Patient Registration Clerk

High School Diploma/GED Certificate 1 year of experience preferred

  • GENERAL DESCRIPTION:The outpatient registration clerks for Patient Access perform and provide a wide variety of clerical and office/ general administrative duties. They are responsible for gathering patient demographic data, insurance information, outpatient paperwork and obtaining signatures as required. They are responsible for answering various telephones and patient wayfinding. Provides estimates for serviceswhen appropriate. Receives and processes patient financial liability paymentsfor current and past balances. Staff is instrumental in maintaining good interpersonal relationships with staff, patients, visitors, physicians, and ancillary personnel. They are responsible for maintaining confidentiality of patient information.
  • WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:Previous clerical and Meditech experience desirable but not required. A good understanding of medical terminology helpful. Customer service experience required.
  • EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:High school graduate or equivalent required. Receives on the job training under close supervision.


Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
